Youth Mariachi Showcase

The Annual Youth Mariachi Showcase began in Los Angeles in 2014 and provides mariachi music education and developmental stage performance training. Mariachi Youth are invited to perform and demonstrate their hard work, talent, cultural pride and cultural assets. They share the stage with and meet other youth who hold the same interests and come from all parts of California for the showcase. We encourage social connection and networking among likeminded youth. The last Youth Mariachi Showcase held on 9/23/2023 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse and the following showcase will occur on July 13, 2024 at the Grand Performances stage in Downtown Los Angeles.

Youth Mariachi Showcase

Participants in the Youth Mariachi Showcase have included members of the all-female ensemble of the Boyle Heights Mariachi Conservatory, the mariachi femenil from the Los Angeles Music and Arts School, the mariachi femenil of the Herencia Mariachi Academy from Corona, CA, the all-female Mariachi Seis Estrellas from the Oxnard School District, the father-daughter Mariachi Traditional from San Diego, and Mariachi Femenil Rosas del Valle from Delano, California to name a few. Youth Folklorico dancers have also participated and have included youth from Los Angelitos. In 2022, the showcase was expanded to include mix gendered youth mariachi groups and a group from another state. They included Mariachi Corazon Jalisciense from Hollister, California and Mariachi La Joya de Las Vegas High School from Las Vegas, Nevada. In our most recent Youth Mariachi Showcase held on September 23, 2023, we were thrilled to have six mariachi groups from the Los Angeles Unified School District perform on the Youth Mariachi Showcase Stage. They included mariachi groups from Garfield High School, Roosevelt High School, Wilson High School, Mendez High, Griffith and El Sereno. Hollister’s Mariachi Corazon Jalisciense traveled from Northern California to Los Angeles County to perform with and meet likeminded youth.
