A lively performance of traditional Mexican mariachi music with a touch of Irish-Mexican fusion was held at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse. This festival honored Mexico’s Irish heroes “Los San Patricios,” a battalion that defected in the Mexican-American war to fight alongside the Mexican army. Featured performers included two-time Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas, Grupo Bella, Catherine John, producer of the album Fadango Braugh, London’s Las Guadalupes UK, and the Dark Isle bagpiper Tress Maksimuk. The Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles and Irish Dancer Shaunessy Sinnett graced the stage with their skillful dancing.
