This festival was held in honor of Linda Ronstadt for her contributions to the global appreciation of mariachi music. Los Angeles-based Mariachi Las Angelitas joined Mariachi Mariposas from Southern Texas to perform Ronstadt’s most popular mariachi songs. A highlight of the evening was New York’s innovative Mariachi Flor de Toloache that returned to the festival for the 2nd time. Since this concert, Mariachi Flor de Toloache has won a Latin Grammy and recently recorded with John Legend.
