1st International Mariachi Women’s Festival
The first annual International Mariachi Women’s Festival was held at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse on March 29, 2014. The Mariachi Women’s Festival paid tribute to women in mariachi and featured New York’s innovative Mariachi Flor de Toloache, the two-time Grammy winning Mariachi Divas, and the Grammy nominated Trio Ellas. Songstress Dinorah Curkendall of Sacramento also performed at this festival. A special highlight of the evening was the presence of mariachi pioneers Margarita and Francis Angulo who performed in Mexico’s 1947 Mariachi Las Adelitas.
