Mariachi Women Warriors 2022 Tour

An incredible concert of Mexican, American, traditional & contemporary music featuring Grammy winners Mariachi Divas & the phenom trio ELLAS.

Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea-This all-female mariachi of talented and accomplished musicians has received 2 Grammy awards and earned 11 Grammy nominations. They have also recorded 17 albums. In 2003, the Divas became the official mariachi of California's Disneyland Resort and Disney's Adventure Theme Park. They recently performed for the Mariachi U.S.A. festival at the Hollywood Bowl and have been featured on television, film, and radio. The group was formed in 1999 by Cindy Shea a trumpeter who studied with Latin Jazz and Classical trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, a protégé of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie. They are among the most accomplished all-female mariachi groups in the world.

ELLAS-This all-female trio began their musical journey as mariachi musicians and evolved into a triple threat of talented musicians that dazzle audiences with their unique blend of mariachi and contemporary music. With simply a guitar, guitarron (bass), violin, and their entrancing harmonies, they have reached number 7 on the iTunes Latin charts for their debut album “Ellas #primerafila.” Trio members Suemy (violin), Nelly (Guitarron), and Melinda (guitar) have earned Grammy nominations and a Grammy award in their individual musical careers. They have performed at iconic venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Dolby Theatre, and at the “nest” for the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Their innovative mix of mariachi and other musical genres such as gypsy jazz, pop, and country have kept audiences wanting to hear more of their music.

About the Presenter – The Mariachi Women’s Foundation is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that empowers the world’s mariachi women and girls by featuring their talents in concerts and festivals and recognizing their important role as carriers of the Mexican male-mariachi tradition. This presentation is one of three concerts in northern California that will be held over the Memorial Holiday weekend. These concerts will expand the mission of the foundation and its Executive and Artistic Director, Dr. Leonor Xóchitl Pérez.
