10th International Mariachi Women’s Festival

The 10th International Mariachi Women’s Festival featured “Canciones del Corazon” or songs of the heart for all who love mariachi music and have supported our festival for the last 10 years. Performers included mariachi and jarocho harpist Natsumi Imamura from Tokyo, Japan, Mariachi Innovación Mexicana from Tlaquepaque, Mexico, Mariachi Rosas Divinas from Dallas, Texas, Grupo Bella from Los Angeles, Ballet Folklórico de Los Angeles along with headliners, Mariachi Divas! We celebrated the 10 successful editions of the world’s first International Mariachi Women’s Festival and that this festival has inspired mariachi women’s festivals in Mexico and Europe.

Mariachi Divas have earned 11 Grammy nominations and 2 American Grammy award wins. In 2003, Mariachi Divas became the official mariachi of California's Disneyland Resort and Disney's Adventure Theme Park. The Divas have also produced 18 albums. In 2024, they will be celebrating 25 successful years as a ground-breaking all-female mariachi. The Divas have been headliners and the house band for the Mariachi Women’s 10 festivals.

Natsumi Imamura & Grupo Bella - Natsumi traveled from Tokyo, Japan to help us celebrate our 10th festival. She is one of the world’s best mariachi and jarocho harpists and was taught by the internationally renowned harpist Alberto de la Rosa. Alberto is an important cultural bearer who has contributed to the movement to preserve Mexican cultural traditions in the 70s, was a founder of the group Tlen Huicani in Xalapa, Veracruz and is affiliated with the University of Veracruz. Los Angeles-based Grupo Bella accompanied Natsumi and highlighted their skillful grasp and artistic expression of Mexican traditional music.

Mariachi Innovación Mexicana performed in the U.S. and at our festival for the first time in 2022. We were happy to have them join us again from Tlaquepaque, Mexico. Although they perform traditional mariachi music, they became a world sensation when their mariachi rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody went viral on the internet. They are known for pushing the boundaries of traditional Mexican mariachi and are the most well known all-female mariachi in the world.

Mariachi Rosas Divinas -We were joined by this beautiful and talented group from Dallas, Texas. We enjoyed their original arrangements and savored their interpretations of traditional mariachi that at times had overtones and harmonies of American country music. Mariachi Rosas Divinas opened the festival and their powerful stage presence and playful exchanges with the audience made for a successful and unforgettable launch.
